My Genre

Fresh Sound, Vintage Feel

I'm always looking for new sounds in old places, just like searching for hidden treasures in a used record store. Paying Dues is my newest project!! It's my first full-length solo studio album. It was released May 1st, and it's my own loud, raw, highly improvised take on the blues.

I've played music my whole life, getting piano lessons from my mom as a little kid, then singing in choirs at school and church. I first picked up a ukulele for fun when I was in middle school, and got my first guitar when I turned 14. That event was a catalyst leading me to pursue music for the rest of my life. I played in bands in high school and eventually wrote and recorded Papaver Californicum with my high school band.

Since then, I've performed with a couple other bands and orchestras and as a solo artist. I took a two year break from professional music while serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints in Mexico City and the surrounding area. I was lucky enough to have a guitar with me and play and sing almost every day, whether that was hymns, classical and jazz pieces, or my own music.

Upon return I dedicated myself to music, and released Back Home, a solo guitar and voice EP with an alternative, singer/songwriter, jazz feel. Next was the concert album Live at the Boiler Room, where I covered some of my favorite famous rock standards. I started writing Paying Dues while working a night shift as a way to express my feelings and frustrations, and it morphed into an homage to the great blues artists who set the foundation for modern music.

These days, I play consistently in restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and anywhere else that'll have me! I recently got featured on the Engineer My Future podcast, talking about my journey and experience. There's more music on the way, so stay tuned with my social media or my email list!
